专利说明:
For this purpose, the present invention provides a divisible canoe, such as a kayak, comprising at least two cast hull sections. The present invention further relates to a method of manufacturing such a canoe. The canoe comprises a joint for releasably connecting the first hull section to the second hull section, each joined hull section comprising means for mating with the adjacent hull section at the joint. The present invention thus provides a canoe with sections which can be interconnected for use as a boat and separated for transport and storage. Particular advantages over other solutions are the immediate and effortless joining and separation of the parts where no tools, screws or other loose parts are necessary, as well as the strength of the canoe which in itself resists the forces involved by the weight of the paddler and the mechanism and the forces from the elements, especially the compressive force created by waves. Other known solutions in the joining of parts for the sake of their strength depend on screws and other means, while the canoe according to the present invention is self-supporting, the buckles used are only to keep the parts from sliding apart and have no effect on the strength. In a preferred embodiment, the canoe comprises at least three hull sections and joints for releasably connecting each hull section to the adjacent hull section. Each hull section includes means for mating with the adjacent hull section. Thereby, the length of the canoe is selectable by assembling only two of the hull sections together, thereby providing a one-man canoe, or providing a two-man canoe by assembling all three sections together. In another preferred embodiment, the means for mating are molded into each of said respective hull sections. In yet another preferred embodiment, the means for mating comprise at least one projecting part and at least one corresponding groove, provided in respective said hull sections. In a further preferred embodiment, the means for mating comprise multiple projecting parts and respective multiple corresponding grooves, provided in respective said hull sections. In a further preferred embodiment, the means for mating have a substantially longitudinal interconnecting direction. In yet another preferred embodiment, a reading device is included for locking said hull sections together when they are joined. In yet another preferred embodiment, the locking device includes a two-part hook. In yet another preferred embodiment, the locking device is arranged to lock mutual movements of said hull sections in the interconnecting direction. the invention also provides a method of making such a canoe, including the step of casting the two hull sections and the means for mating, the means for mating in each hull section being cast in the section. Casting the joints into the hull sections when the hull sections are cast makes it easier to keep the hull sections watertight and also to keep the manufacture simple. In a preferred embodiment, the method includes casting the means for mating into partitions in the respective hull sections. Preferably, the sections are blow molded or rotationally molded in a polymer, such as polyethylene, and the means for mating are cast together with the sections. The means for mating are preferably molded into the respective partition wall in its hull section. Preferably, the casting includes casting of at least a portion of the locking device into at least one hull section. Preferably, the hull sections are blow molded or, more preferably, rotationally molded from a polymer, preferably polyethylene. Brief Description of the Drawings The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 illustrates a canoe with two hull sections joined together. Figure 2 illustrates a canoe with two hull sections when the hull sections are apart. Figure 3 illustrates the locking device to ensure that the joint is in place when locked. Figure 4 illustrates the locking device in place in the open condition. Figure 5 illustrates a canoe with three hull sections joined together. Figure 6 illustrates a canoe with three hull sections when the hull sections are apart. Figure 7 illustrates means for mating for joining two adjacent hull sections. Figure 8 also illustrates means for mating for joining two adjacent hull sections. Detailed Description For the purpose of explaining and in its place to provide an understanding of the present invention, exemplary embodiments are presented below. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced in other embodiments which depart from the more specific details of these examples. In addition, description of the details of a canoe in accordance with the invention which are similar to the corresponding details of an ordinary non-divisible canoe has been omitted. Figure 1 illustrates a canoe 1 comprising two hull sections 2, 3. The hull sections 2, 3 are floatable and form a canoe when they are connected in the longitudinal direction, from front to stern. The first hull section 2 can be connected to the second hull section 3 by a first joint comprising a plurality of cylindrical projections intended to be inserted into at least one groove. Figure 2 shows the same canoe 1 as shown in Figure 1 with the two hull sections 2, 3 slightly apart. The hull sections 2, 3 are joined by means for mating comprising projecting parts and corresponding grooves arranged in the respective hull section 2, 3. The hull sections are joined by a substantially longitudinal connecting direction with self-reinforcement and self-locking by projecting parts and corresponding grooves arranged in respective hull section. Figure 3 shows a hook used to lock the hull sections together. Figure 3 shows the hook in its locked position when used to lock two hull sections together. Figure 4 shows the hook in place in its open position. Figure 5 illustrates a canoe 1 comprising three hull sections 2, 3, 4. Figure 6 shows the same canoe 1 as shown in figure 5 with the three hull sections 2, 3, 4 slightly apart. The hull sections 2, 3, 4 are joined together by the means for mating comprising projecting parts and corresponding grooves arranged in the respective hull section 2, 3, 4. Figure 7 shows details of the coupling device joining the hull sections 2, 3. Figure 8 also shows details of the means for mating joining the hull sections 2, 3. A plurality of projecting parts 5 are arranged in the hull section 3, and corresponding female grooves 6 in the first hull section 2. The hull sections are interconnected by mating the projecting parts 5 with the grooves 6 by bringing the sections together in the longitudinal direction of the mounted kayak. The groove 6 has an inner wall enclosing the projecting parts 5 in two perpendicular directions, the vertical direction Z and the transverse direction Y, preventing relative movements of the hull sections 2, 3 in the vertical and transverse directions. After joining the hull sections by pressing them together in the longitudinal interconnecting direction, the hull sections can be locked together by reading means 7 arranged to engage and secure the hull sections together preventing relative longitudinal movements on the sections. The locking means is shown as a hasp 7. In each of the embodiments shown, one of the hull sections is provided with a seat arranged on the upper side of a tire on the section. Thus, the illustrated canoe is a so-called sit-on kayak, but alternatively a sit-in kayak with a seat arranged inside the hull section can be provided using similar joints between the hull sections. The hull sections are connected by pairing the projecting parts 5 with the respective grooves 6 by bringing the sections together in the longitudinal direction of the mounted kayak. The female groove 6 has an inner wall enclosing the projecting part 5 in two perpendicular directions, the vertical direction Z and the transverse direction Y, preventing relative movement of the hull sections 2, 3 in the vertical and transverse direction. After joining the hull sections by pressing them together in the longitudinal interconnecting direction X, the hull sections can be locked together by a locking device 7 arranged to grip and secure the hull sections together, preventing relative longitudinal movements on the sections. The locking device is illustrated as a hook 7. Although all embodiments of the canoe are preferably rotationally molded in at least two interconnectable and detachable hull sections with interconnecting means molded into a respective partition surface in each of the sections, it will be appreciated that the construction advantageously can also be used in the construction of canoes in fiberglass-reinforced plastic such as polystyrene. The invention has mainly been described above with reference to a few embodiments. However, as will already be appreciated by those skilled in the art, embodiments other than those shown above are equally possible within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
